Every Run or Only When Needed
show dialog has two modes.
every run opens the dialog each time the macro starts, with the last answers filled in. Use it for choices that change from run to run, such as "How many runs this time?".
only when needed opens the dialog only while something is missing, and otherwise starts the macro straight away with the saved answers. Use it for setup the user does once, such as picking where buttons are.
When "only when needed" asks again
- the first run
- a new question: for example, you updated the macro and added one
- a pick or recording that no longer fits the user's screen
- the user pressed Ask again
Questions hidden by show when don't count.
Changing the answers later
With only when needed, users change their answers from the macro's settings. Under Setup questions, Ask again makes the dialog open on the next run, with the answers filled in:
In Lua, every run is Dialog:show() and only when needed is Dialog:showIfNeeded().
