Show a Question Only When It Matters
Put questions inside show when to show them only while another question has a certain answer. The user never sees questions that don't apply to them.
In this example, Tap the Arena button only shows when the user picks Arena:
Conditions
Set id to the checkbox, options or dropdown to watch, then choose:
| Choice | Shows the questions inside while... | Lua |
|---|---|---|
| checked | the checkbox is ticked | showWhen(id) |
| not checked | the checkbox is not ticked | hideWhen(id) |
| option id | that option is chosen | showWhen(id, optionId) |
| not option id | any other option is chosen | hideWhen(id, optionId) |
Good to know
- A hidden question never stops OK, even if it must be answered. A user who picks Farm never has to show you the Arena button.
- A hidden question keeps its last answer. Only read its answer when the condition holds.
- show when works around pages and sections too, to show a whole page or section.
- If the watched checkbox or choice is hidden itself, the questions that depend on it hide too.
